Work the attitude, grab the eyeliner, big up the hair and wear your skinniest jeans because this season, punk is where it’s at…

This season, prepare to unleash your inner rock-chick. The autumn/winter shows were awash with a new punk revival. Everyone from Vivienne Westwood (the first lady of punk herself) to Dolce & Gabbana channelled their own brand of rebellion. To keep this look fresh try keeping it glamourous. Take inspiration from Balmain, who added a tough edge to glamorous floor length gowns. Fabric is key this autumn/winter, so try combining lace, plaid and velvet.  Throw a little lady-like into the mix and you’re sure to nail this trend. Remember, this look is about breaking rules. So get inventive and don’t forget, make sure whatever you wear, you do it with some serious attitude! So, what are you waiting for? Come on feel the noise, girls rock your boys and get wild, wild, wild.

Get the Look for Less…

Off Duty:

Go for off duty cool this season. Take inspiration from young London. Think Agyness Deyn, Pixie Geldof and Alexa Chung.

1. One easy and accessible way to buy into the new punk look is to invest in a good leather jacket. This short sleeved jacket (£120 from TopShop) is a real winner and perfect for those who are a little shy of going head-to-toe punk.

2. This ‘I love London’ tee is bang on trend and so versatile. Do dressed-down casual by teaming with a pair of skinnies or dress it up with a cute chiffon skirt and shoe boots. The cut of this top is great too. And the really good news? It is a credit-crunch friendly £16! (Rock t-shirt by TopShop)

 3. Those of you lusting over Balmain’s autumn/winter show will fall in love with these look-at-me red skinnies (£40 TopShop). Simply team with ankle boots with a fringed trim and you couldn’t be more on trend.

I’m with the band…

Get it while you can. It’s sure to adorn the pages of most fashion magazines soon. (Military jacket, £40 from Dorothy Perkins)

PARADISE FOUND

Make a splash in this summer’s sizzling swimwear

The holiday is booked. You’ve changed your money to the local currency and the passport is at the ready. Now all that’s left is to trackdown the perfect beachwear.

This summer, swimwear is striking. All bold prints, strong colours and statement pieces. This summer’s star buy is the one piece, which has been given an edge with plunging necklines and cutaway detailing. The perfect way to instant poolside chic.

Bandeau bikinis also made waves in a riot of colour. Rich, exotic colours and prints were homage to this seasons love affair with all things tribal. Beachwear has a definite bohemian twist (as seen at Etro’s Spring/Summer show), with layering and accessorising being key. To nail the bohemian look layer vest tops and jewellery over bikini’s, throw on some gladiator sandals and add a chic tribal print scarf.

The Statement Shoe

Designer’s have blurred the boundaries of fashion and art to create modern day masterpieces that even Picasso would be proud of…

This is definately the year of the statement shoe. From Miu Miu’s candle shaped heels, to Chanel’s metallic peep toe shoes the runways welcomed a riot of colour, creativity and artistry. There is something for everyone. If Marc Jacob’s modern art inspired upside heel is “too out there” why not try Roberto Cavalli’s more traditional yet head-turning wedges? If Balenciaga’s warrior shoes aren’t for you why not opt for Chloé’s wide strapped patent heels? You get the idea. Designers invite you to let your imagination run wild, to experiment, to be whoever you want to be. This year’s shoes capture the essence of this season. This year its all about you. All about choice, flair and creativity. The line between fashion and art has been blurred and they have collided to create a truly inspiring season…
